Tecton provided master planning services and conceptual designs for Asnuntuck Community College, with the goal of accommodating space programming needs, addressing significant deferred maintenance and updating mechanical systems. The subsequent project created a new Tower Lobby and Student Center to serve as the new “front door”
of the College.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

• The new two-story Tower Lobby establishes an iconic, welcoming entrance point that’s visible from the main thoroughfare.
• This new, clear entrance consolidates the 9 entrance points that existed before the renovation, allowing for improved wayfinding and building security.
• The glass façade creates visibility and excitement, while also presenting an openness that expresses the community aspect of the college.
• Vibrant furniture and informal gathering spaces provide opportunities for students and the public to congregate, study and eat.
• Updated facilities for the café, student organization offices and bookstore enhance amenities and attract students.
• Functional improvements like HVAC and roof replacements improve employee and student comfort.
• The new design has served as an advertising and recruitment tool for the school.
