Tecton has worked closely with Middlesex Hospital on a number of projects over the years, including:

CT Scanner – Tecton provided architectural design and led the complex coordination for the installation of a “Brightspeed Elite Enhanced” CT scanner. Using hospital finish standards, this program included a mechanical room and computer control room.

Combined Heat & Power Plant – this 200KW natural-gas fired plant ties into the hospital’s existing central plant building and existing electrical distribution and mechanical systems. The addition includes a glass stair tower and canopy at the existing entry and ties the original brick building to the new metal panel clad addition.

Special Procedures Operating Room – this space was designed to accommodate a C-Arm suspended over a procedures table to allow constant patient monitoring. Tecton worked with the Hospital’s engineering staff and structural engineer to coordinate a medical equipment sub-structural support system and the required MEP systems above the ceiling. A control room containing the monitoring equipment was also a component of this project.

Sterile Processing Department – in order to accommodate the department’s 24/7 operation, Tecton coordinated a phased construction plan for this project. Re-orientation of the sterilization equipment and clean storage redirected flow for increased throughput operations and separated critical functions. The project incorporated the relocation and addition of major equipment such as sterilizers, washers, a centralized bulk storage plus stainless steel counters and sinks.

Surgical Suite – Tecton and Middlesex Hospital staff collaborated to develop the Hospital’s next generation of operating rooms. The closely coordinated design and construction program expanded four operating rooms to a 4,600 SF suite. The project also included relocation of the locker room space, realignment of the sterile core and re-imagining and enlargement of the existing Orthopedics Operating Rooms to incorporate state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure.
