Tecton designed a new 8,000 SF police station to serve the town of North Brookfield, MA. The project was especially challenging due to its location on a brownfield site, listed with the Massachusetts DEP as an “asbestos in soil” site. Because it was very important to the town to clean up the land and turn it into a positive asset, Tecton worked diligently to overcome the additional complications of the asbestos remediation while staying within the original budget.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

• Extensive energy efficient features including automated lighting systems, occupancy sensors in offices, LED site fixtures & exit signs, daylight harvesting controls in perimeter spaces, dual level lighting controls, high efficiency chillers, hybrid HVAC systems, automatic temperature controls and a building energy management system.
• Mix of functional and comfortable spaces for the unique needs of a police force, including holding cells and interrogation spaces, break rooms, conference and training spaces, offices, and public lobbies.
