Tecton Architects provided programming and design services through the design development phase to RRMM Architects of Norfolk, VA for this 24,500 SF fire station, fire administration building and EMS facility.

The building is located on a four-acre site in a municipal campus that includes the town middle and high schools. It was essential that the facility design be consistent with the existing adjacent buildings (both of which were designed by RRMM Architects of Norfolk, VA) yet also distinguish itself as a separate entity.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

• A central core connects all spaces including a three bay fire station, an administration wing with office and support spaces, and EOC and back-up 911 facility.
• A museum of the Suffolk Fire Department’s proud history was incorporated into the design.
• A Separate area for EMS department within the building includes administrative space and bunks.
