Trumpf is the largest manufacturer of fabricating machinery in the United States and a world market leader in lasers used for industrial production technology.

Working with Trumpf US and its parent company in Stuttgart, Germany, Tecton designed the company’s new LITE (Laser Innovation and Technical Excellence) Center in Farmington, Connecticut.

Tecton collaborated with Trumpf’s corporate architect, Barkow Leibinger Architects in Berlin, Germany, and designed zones for research and development, assembly, and final testing. A clean room, parts washing area, flexible testing labs, product display space, central data facility, administrative offices and conference rooms completed this phase.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

• Three lines of innovative industrial lasers will be developed and assembled in the new two-story facility.
• Sophisticated process-engineering systems support the technological requirements via trenches and utility basement.
• Individually purposed zones for research & development, assembly, and final testing.
• Day light harvesting throughout allows for a more energy efficient building.
• Geothermal cooling systems were incorporated.
• Open views of the scenic Farmington River Valley from conference rooms and offices.
